Partners In Health (PIH) is an international nongovernmental organization dedicated to delivering health care to people and communities devastated by the joint burdens of poverty and disease. PIH’s work has three goals: to strengthen public health systems and the delivery of high-quality health care; to address the socioeconomic roots of disease through a human rights-based approach; and to raise the standard of what is possible in global health through training, research and advocacy. Starting with a small clinic in rural Haiti, PIH now has programs in 12 countries around the world (Haiti, Rwanda, Malawi, Lesotho, Burundi, Russia, Kazakhstan, Peru, Mexico, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and the United States).

Our mission is both medical and moral. It is based on solidarity, rather than charity alone.

Abbott and the Abbott Fund are contributing more than $6.5 million in addition to expertise of more than 50 Abbott staff across multiple functions, to expand Partners In Health’s local production of Nourimanba. Nourimanba, like other ready-to-use therapeutic foods, is a high-calorie, high-protein, fortified peanut-based paste that is proven to dramatically improve the health of children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
